Thomas Buchanan received both his B.S., magna cum laude, in Animal Science and his Juris Doctorate
degree, magna cum laude, from the University of Arkansas in 1996 and 1999, respectively. While attending law school, Mr. Buchanan was Associate Editor of the Arkansas Law Review, a member of the Board of Advocates, and a member of the Law School's National Moot Court Team. He was also a judicial extern for the Honorable Franklin Waters, Senior District Judge for the United States District Court for the Western District of Arkansas, and the recipient of the M. Jeff Starling Award.
Prior to joining Wilkes & McHugh, P.A. in 2004, Mr. Buchanan practiced with Akin, Gump, Strauss, Hauer & Feld, L.L.P. in Dallas and with Friday, Eldredge & Clark, L.L.P. in Little Rock. Over the course of his career, Mr. Buchanan has practiced in the areas of labor and employment law, corporate law, civil rights law, insurance defense litigation, appellate litigation, and civil litigation pertaining to personal injury. He is also the author of "Franklin v. Healthsource of Arkansas: Arkansas Adopts the Made-Whole Doctrine, 51 Ark. L. Rev. 773 (1998)."
Mr. Buchanan is licensed to practice law in Arkansas, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, Tennessee and Texas. He is a member of the Arkansas Bar Association, the Arkansas Trial Lawyers Association, and the State Bar of Texas.
