Joel Elsea joins Wilkes & McHugh, P.A.
Wilkes & McHugh, P.A. is pleased to announce that Joel S. Elsea has joined the firm as an attorney in our Tampa, Florida, office.
Mr. Elsea earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in history from the University of Richmond before graduating from Stetson University College of Law with his Juris Doctor. While in law school, he was part of a championship Mock Trial Team that won both the 2004 Chester Bedell Memorial Mock Trial Competition and 2004 ATLA Regional Tournament. The team also made the quarterfinals of the 2004 ATLA National Finals. He also earned the Victor O. Wehle, Excellence in Trial Advocacy Award, which is presented to highest scoring student in each section of Trial Advocacy class. As a National Member of The Order of Barristers, Mr. Elsea received a Commendation from The International Academy of Trial Lawyers.
Prior to joining Wilkes & McHugh, P.A., Mr. Elsea served as an Assistant State Attorney in the Hillsborough County State Attorney's Office. During his time there he served as trial counsel in more than 75 jury trials, including nine homicide trials, and was ultimately promoted to Deputy Division Chief. Mr. Elsea is licensed to practice in Florida.
