Biography

Ruben Krisztal received both his undergraduate degree and his Juris Doctor degree from the University of Missouri at Kansas City in 1973 and 1976, respectively.  He practiced law as a private attorney from 1977 until he joined Wilkes & McHugh in 2007. He has practiced specifically in the area of nursing home litigation since 1985. During his career as senior trial counsel, Mr. Krisztal has obtained several multimillion settlements and verdicts.
 
He was involved in organizing and promoting the Nursing Home Litigation Group of the American Association for Justice, including serving as chair or co-chair of the group four times. Additionally, Mr. Krisztal is the author and editor of numerous articles, books, and chapters in books dedicated to the subject of nursing home litigation. He was the editor of Nursing Home Litigation: Pretrial Practice and Trial (first and second editions); contributing author to Nursing Home Litigation: Investigation and Case Preparation; and author of Nursing Home Litigation, Case Assessment: Theories, Evidence and Experts.

Mr. Krisztal is a member of the American Association of Justice (AAJ), American Bar Association (ABA), Kansas Association for Justice (KsAJ), and Pennsylvania Association for Justice, as well as multiple local bar associations. He has served as president of the Kansas Trial Lawyers Association.

Awards

Mr. Krisztal has received the AV Preeminent Rating from Martindale Hubbell and has been listed in Martindale-Hubbell’s Bar Register of Preeminent Lawyers since 1998. Mr. Krisztal is also a member of the Million Dollar Advocate Forum and a recipient of the 2001 “Dedication to Excellence” award from a national continuing legal education program. He is a Board Certified Civil Trial Attorney by the National Board of Legal Specialty Certification (NBLSC). He was named a Top 100 Lawyer by the National Trial Lawyers for the years 2008 through 2013, and 2016-2017. Additionally, he was named Top Attorney in Pennsylvania for 2013 and 2014 by Philadelphia Magazine and a Pennsylvania Super Lawyer from 2013 - 2017 by Super Lawyers Magazine.
